Word from the CEO
A few years ago, I was hit by a driver who was using their mobile phone while driving. I came out of it physically unscathed, but it deeply affected me. That experience made one thing painfully clear: road safety is not a detail; it is a matter of life and death. What struck me the most was that so much attention is given to the problem of mobile phone usage, but hardly any to structural prevention. That’s when I started Detecte with my team, not only to address mobile phone usage but to identify all risky behaviour on the road early and to help organisations make a real difference. Because fewer accidents mean less suffering, and that’s what we’re here for.

Accessible, efficient, and privacy-friendly
We analysed accident files, studies, and spoke with drivers, fleet managers, and insurers. The pattern was clear: distraction and irresponsible driving behaviour present a structural risk, but there were hardly any solutions that tackled the problem preventively without expensive hardware or invasive data collection.
Instead of installing extra devices in the vehicle, we decided to make use of something that every driver already has: the smartphone. We developed a smart, robust holder and powerful AI software that detects distraction, drowsiness, and risky driving behaviour via the front camera, completely locally on the device without image storage.
